This summer 2018, United Christian Church (UCC) brought back the Bible Basketball League, which provided young men the opportunity to glorify God through sports!

The opening ceremony was held on April 28, Saturday, headed by Bro. Paul Galao at the church grounds.

Four teams coming from Welcome Village, Fourth Estate – Cultural Lane, Pascual II Compound, and the UCC youth have been the official participants of the league.

Before every game, the teams would meet for 30 minutes to have not just physical warm-up exercises, but also spiritual warm-up exercises with the Word of God through a bible study. The team devotions were being led by Bro. Paul Galao, Bro. Yancy Eucariza, and Bro. Ramil Eucariza for the players to get to know each other better, as well as grow in knowledge, understanding, and application of God’s Word:

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.  ~2 Timothy 4:7 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

During the first game, Pascual II Compound won against UCC with a three-point lead of 83-80, while Welcome Village defeated Cultural Lane garnering the scores of 96-91.

The second game was held on April 29, Sunday. UCC brought home the bacon with a 13-point lead of 69-56 against Cultural Lane. On the other hand, Welcome Village had their second win against Pascual II Compound with the scores 71-64.

Moreover, Welcome Village won against UCC with the scores 81-73, while Cultural Lane and Pascual II Compound had an intense game, resulting to the success of the latter team due to a 1-point lead of 76-77 on the third game held on May 1, Tuesday.

May 3, Thursday, was a special day for UCC and Welcome Village. On the fourth game, Welcome Village won with a 6-point lead against Cultural Lane with 88-82. Game 4 was ended by the success of UCC against Pascual II Compound with the scores 79-53.

As for the game officials, Bro. Paul Galao, Bro. Yancy Eucariza, Bro. Ramil Eucariza, and Bro. Edgar Cruz served as referees, while Cheryl Espana, Gretyl Espana, Nicole La Guardia, Pauline Galao, and Aziel Eucariza were the members of the committee.

The final game, also known as the Championships, will be held tomorrow, May 5 at the venue of the game host, United Christian Church.
